Frequently Asked Questions

Thanks for checking out our FAQ section! We try to answer as many of the most common questions that come to us on here to save you the time of sending an inquiry and waiting for a response. If your question isn't answered on this page feel free to send us message and we will get back to you asap!

How far in advance should I place an order?

Since all our cakes are custom baked from scratch and to order we require at least 7 days notice, however, weddings can book up to a year — or more — in advance. We cannot guarantee any dates without a deposit, so we recommend you book your date as soon as you know you’ll be having an event!

Do you offer tastings?

We offer tastings for wedding cakes only. During your visit you will have the opportunity to sample several of our most popular flavors!

Is there a fee for the tasting?

Yes. Due to limited availability and high demand there is a small fee to secure your visit on our calendar. Your appointment is confirmed when we receive your payment. Once you choose to book with us, the fee will be applied to your order. Please keep in mind that cake samples are prepared specifically for you. We ask for the courtesy of 24 hours notice if your appointment needs to be rescheduled.

How much are your cakes?

We have a $100 minimum on all our custom cakes. There is a minimum of $250 on all 3-D or sculpted cakes. Our minimum on custom wedding orders is $420. Our wedding cakes start at $7 per serving which includes fondant wrapped tiers with simple piping or a pretty ribbon at the base of each tier. For more intricate decor, the price goes up depending upon the amount of work involved. Ultimately the price is based on the complexity of design and the number of people being served. Our back-up cakes (similar to other bakeries sheet cakes) are available to to accommodate budget restrictions or to supplement for larger parties and are priced at $4 per serving. Before you arrive for your consultation or appointment, it is helpful to have a budget in mind for what you would like to spend on your cake. This will give us a better sense of what we can design for you.

How long can we expect to be there?

An hour is set-aside for each client, which has proven to be ample time to both design and taste our cakes. Often, appointments are scheduled before and after yours so please plan to be on time so we have a full hour.

What do I need to bring to our appointment?

It is helpful to have made venue, color and floral decisions prior to our meeting so we have that information available when designing your cake. Please bring with you any elements from your event that you feel we can draw inspiration from. Pictures of your wedding dress, reception venue, your invitations or design motif, a monogram, color swatches… it can all be helpful. The design process is a collaborative effort and we’ll keep exploring options until you have a design you love.

I’ve heard fondant tastes awful. Does it?

Not ours! We would never serve you something that tastes awful. Our fondant is made in Europe by a French chocolate company and is literally the best in the world. We use a big machine, called a sheeter, to roll it out evenly, so you’ll never get a big thick piece of fondant covering your cake. Also, just beneath the fondant overlay, is a wonderfully delicious layer of white chocolate Italian meringue butter cream. All these things allow us to create the gorgeous and professional cakes our clients have come to expect.

Do you offer delivery?

Yes! The price is determined by the distance from our shop to your venue and includes any set-up necessary, such as placing fresh flowers — provided by your florist — on your cake. Our minimum is $25 for wedding cakes and is roughly $100 per hour one way.

What is your payment policy?

A 50% non-refundable booking fee reserves your date on our calendar. The balance is due 10 days before your wedding.

How many flavors can I choose for my cake?

We usually recommend no more than two flavors simply for ease of serving. There is no additional charge for a second flavor. If you do chose a third or fourth flavor there is a fee of $50 per flavor.

Do I have to make a deposit to reserve my wedding date? If so, how much is it and can I get a refund, if necessary?

Yes, we require a 50% booking fee to reserve your wedding date on our calendar. Your booking fee is based on the total estimated amount at the time you place your order. All booking fees non-refundable.

I am not ready to make design decisions yet but I want to reserve our date so you don’t get booked up, is that possible?

Yes. You may reserve your date with a $200 non-refundable deposit. Final design details need to be made at least 8 weeks prior to your event.

If I want fresh flowers on my cake how can that be arranged?

You can arrange fresh flowers directly with your florist. We will deliver the cake safely to your venue and as part of our service, we arrange the flowers on your cake when we arrive.

What are your hours?

Our storefront is open for cupcake sales Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 4 pm. We’re available outside of these hours for order pick-ups and appointments. Appointments are recommended to order a custom designed cake, and required for our wedding cake design consultations and cake tastings. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 559-431-1343 or emailing chefliz@cremecake.com.

Do you make sugar free, gluten free or vegan cakes? Do you use organic ingredients?

We offer delicious gluten free versions of our cakes and cupcakes, but there are minimums. Call or email for more information. All of our ingredients are natural and of the highest quality. Locally sourced, organic ingredients are used whenever possible. The best ingredients really do make all the difference and we use only the finest available.

Do you have a catalog or brochure?

Each cake is custom designed so our website picture gallery and Facebook albums serve mainly as a portfolio for you to see our previous work. More pictures of our cakes can also be viewed on Yelp, Snapchat, Instagram and Pinterest.
